45 Million Visits in 2011

Friday, December 23rd, 2011 [ Posted by Patrick B ]

The numbers for 2011 are out and they’re pretty impressive! More than 45 million people visited a website created or managed by webqem this year.

This is the same as the number of:

  • Tourists who visited New York city
  • People who bought iPads
  • Registered users on Dropbox
Our biggest single site averaged 10,000 visitors per day.

webqem.com was lower down the list at 200 visits per day.

A few interesting stats:
  • The 45 Million visits came from over 100 Google Analytics

Rebuilt from the ground up – OzForex

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 [ Posted by Steve W ]

The last calendar quarter of 2011 has proven to be ‘really big projects go live’ quarter… and amongst that number we’re proud to see OzForex’s new website up and running.

OzForex website

With over 80 wireframes, 60 page templates and 4 videos delivered, this was no standard front-end design project. Our team essentially reverse engineered the OzForex site in scalable format – for 4 international sites – Australia, Canada, UK and NZ – as well as a standalone mobile version. The scale of functional improvements include a new currency calculator, very cool FX Dashboard, set of 3rd party partner tools and full deals application – in both website and mobile format.

Over a year in the making, it’s wonderful to see the end result live – and we’re looking forward to the feedback from users as they move to the new system.

oneworld’s fresh new face

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 [ Posted by Steve W ]

2 years in the making, we’re proud to have just launched a completely redesigned and rebuilt website for the world’s best airline alliance – oneworld.

From initial concepts in late 2009, through new information architecture, wireframes and workshops at oneworld’s headquarters in Vancouver, to the application of new branding and a completely rebuilt content management system – it’s been epic.

The launch went without a hitch and the results have already been very enthusiastically received – no mean feat given the number of entities involved in approval and sign off.

We’re already looking forward to a number of incremental improvements in the coming months and ever closer integration between the websites of oneworld and the airlines that make up the alliance.

New webqem Adobe training initiative – ready2teach

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 [ Posted by Mark S ]

ready2teach logoWebqem is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new Adobe software training initiative for educators – ready2teach.

ready2teach offers educators an informal, just-in-time approach that will help make the most of the Adobe licenses you have.  Being able to interact with the trainers in a “virtual classroom” means you can tap into a mine of information.  And if you can’t make the live sessions you can view them later anywhere, anytime.  The topics cover all the key aspects of Adobe’s Creative Suite so there’s bound to be something to suit every educator – in teaching, administration or research.

This is an excellent opportunity for all teachers to improve  their knowledge and skills, while experiencing the virtual classroom environment.

For educational institutions it offers a cost-effective solution – to provide training opportunities for all staff – while maximising the investment in ICT.

Thursday, April 28th, 2011 [ Posted by Thomas T ]

In the wake of Formstar and webqem joining forces in 2010, it was decided to harness webqem’s web development capabilities to give the existing Formstar website a good spit and polish.

Well, more like an overhaul to be honest.

The aim of the new website was to enable current Formstar users to stay up-to-date with changes and improvements to the system, whilst also providing key information about Formstar and how it can benefit potential users.

The result? Judge for yourself at www.formstar.com

The Energy and Water Ombudsman NSW’s (EWON) redesigned site launched this week. EWON provides a free, independent dispute resolution service for electricity, gas and some water customers in NSW. As such, they needed to display relevant information clearly and concisely to potentially frustrated users who are engaged in a dispute with their supplier.

The new site provides information and advice around the complaint process, rights as a customer, and allows customers to make a complaint online all presented within a fresh and easy to navigate site.

Fidelity Site Launch

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 [ Posted by Thomas T ]

The new Fidelity Investment Managers website www.fidelity.com.au is now live after many months of collaboration and hard work between webqem and Fidelity’s teams.

The new Fidelity site is another in webqem’s growing collection of Mura-driven sites.  It provides Fidelity with a flexible and easily adaptable CMS, well placed to target content toward specific audiences and market segments, and attract new user registrations.

Specific goals for webqem’s information architects, design and development teams included:

  • Re-alignment of the information architecture and site content to deepen user engagement and deliver Fidelity’s renewed brand strategy
  • Copywriting and re-focus of key site content to better convey Fidelity’s voice and character
  • redesign and update of the site look and feel in line with Fidelity’s new visual identity
  • navigation restructure and  delivery of new tailored content and tools
  • selection and integration of a new Content Management system – flexible, scalable and easily adaptable
  • integration of dynamic data feeds and rich Flex and Flash-based data visualisation tools

One of Fidelity’s goals for the new website is to deepen its relationship with targeted audience segments and to expand the range of investment tools and knowledge-based insights available for Advisers.  Financial Advisers can also access educational content on the site and be awarded CPD (industry-recognised) points toward their continuing professional development.

Fidelity previously had a number of third party tools and applications hosted in disparate locations and with wide variance between visual styling.  All tools have now been incorporated within the new site and redesigned to reflect Fidelity’s new visual identity.

All roads now lead to the website.  With lots of new reasons to visit.

YHA site goes live

Monday, September 6th, 2010 [ Posted by Thomas T ]

After months of hard work and much collaboration between YHA and the team at webqem, we’re very happy to announce that the redesigned YHA site is now live!  The YHA site redesign was a large project, considering the site has over 2,500 pages. We worked extensively with YHA to better align the website look and feel to YHA’s brand, and to provide better visual weighting to all site elements, to improve user interaction and navigation.

There were also a number of technical objectives in the YHA site redesign:

• Utilise CSS layouts as much as possible throughout the site

• Implement the Mura Open Source CMS, to give YHA greater flexibility and control over content editing

• Increase page speed across the site, by utilising site speed optimisation best practice (CSS Sprites,

separate image domains, compression, content caching)

• Utilise latest HTML 5 techniques including dynamic font rendering

• Widen site pages from 800 pixels to 1024 pixels

The end result is a faster, technically and visually cleaner site that YHA have much greater flexibility in managing going forward.
